About the Role

Our distinguished university press in New York City is seeking an experienced Academic Editor to join our dynamic team focused on Humanities and Social Sciences. You will be responsible for scouting, acquiring, and developing book manuscripts, guiding authors through the publication process, and ensuring the editorial excellence of our publications. Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and acquire new book projects in assigned subject areas within the Humanities and Social Sciences.

  • Negotiate contracts and manage project budgets.
  • Oversee the editorial development of manuscripts from acquisition to final production.

Requirements

  • Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant Humanities or Social Sciences discipline.

  • Proven track record of acquiring successful scholarly books.
  • Excellent editorial judgment, command of the English language, and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
